Come to the Finger Lakes to Sail away

April 25, 2018 | All Posts, Packages

With eleven lakes to choose from, you can easily find a Finger Lake that will fit your style of sailing.  However, if you just want to sit back, relax, and let the pros sail the boat, you’ll want to take a look at the Finger Lakes Sailing Adventure, and specifically, the 67’ schooner, True Love.

Commissioned in 1925, and built in 1926 in Wiscasset, Maine, True Love was destined for the limelight.  She began her movie career in 1940, with the romantic comedy, The Philadelphia Story, where she appeared as a miniature model of herself.  And then, in 1956, True Love would make her life size debut in the musical film, High Society, starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.  The film featured the famous scene where Bing Crosby serenaded Grace Kelly with Cole Porter’s song “True Love”, while onboard the real life True Love.

After her movie career, True Love spent the next fifty years cruising the warm waters around St. Thomas before being purchased by Schooner Excursions in 2008 and relocated to the Finger Lakes.  With a full restoration behind her, True Love is sailing the blue waters of Seneca Lake with a grace and style that befits her heritage.

You will feel the wind on your face as you spend 2 hours aboard True Love, taking in the sights of Seneca Lake.  You’ll have an Inn Harvest Cooler to enjoy as well as our insulated water bottles too, and there are some fun extras that we include in your package to make it even more special.

No sailing experience is necessary to reserve this package through the Black Sheep Inn and Spa at www.stayblacksheepinn.com.  In addition to our distinctive rooms and exciting travel packages, you will enjoy our Farm to Table breakfast each morning, featuring fresh, organic ingredients sourced from within 50 miles from the Inn.  We are the perfect home base for your Finger Lakes adventure!

Ahoy!
