The underlying story of boutique wineries in the Finger Lakes is full of visionaries from other parts of the world and these individual personalities create the depth and dimension of the wine being offered here in the region.  These winemakers not only bring their wine acumen with them, but their enthusiasm, energy, and family history of winemaking as well.  All of which translates into the quality of the wine being produced.  Few of our partners exemplify this as well as Céline and Sébastien LeSeurre of Domaine LeSeurre Winery on Keuka Lake.

Owners Céline and Sébastien LeSeurre, both originally from France, worked fifteen vintages around the world and fell in love with Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes wine region. Sébastien, originally from Champagne, learned wine at an early age from his father and grandfather, and is now a sixth generation winemaker. Céline is from a grape growing family near Toulouse, France in the foothills of the Pyrénees. The terroir in the Finger Lakes, or geography, geology and climate of a certain place, is what intrigued their passion and allowed them to share the experience of combining Old World and New World style winemaking.

Their tasting room opened in October of 2013, and is located in Hammondsport, on the east side of Keuka Lake. By uniting their French heritage with new world experience, they have been able to create Finger Lakes wines that pair well with fine cuisine as well as casual fare. When people inquire about what wines are the best, they love to say that it is those that you enjoy. In the same spirit, their goal is to create wines that you can enjoy with your friends and family.

As one of our Black Sheep Guild partners, Domaine LeSeurre is one of our guests’ favorites and the closest winery on the East side of Keuka Lake to the Inn.  And on a personal note, we have really enjoyed getting to know Céline and Sébastien over the last few years, and it is always fun to catch up with them when they drop by at the Inn.  As an added bonus, when you mention this blog post when reserving your room at the Inn, we will happily cover the cost of your standard Tasting Flight at Domaine LeSeurre Winery.
